Enzo Maresca uses unusual rule to deny Erling Haaland Manchester City captaincy
Manchester City head coach Enzo Maresca is unlikely to appoint Erling Haaland as the club’s permanent captain because his rule requires the captain to come to the bench immediately after a goal for tactical instructions. Maresca joked that this would be impractical if Haaland were celebrating his own goals. Ruben Dias is the leading candidate for the armband, while Maresca also wants an English player in the leadership group and may consider Phil Foden or Marc Guehi, with Josko Gvardiol another potential leader.
