Cian Uijtdebroeks withdrew from the Vuelta a España before stage 5 after injuries from a crash on stage 2 proved more extensive than initially believed. He finished stage 4 last, 182nd and more than 26 minutes behind Tadej Pogačar, after struggling through pain and tears to beat the time cut. Movistar said the 23-year-old should begin recovery, ending a difficult first season with the team that had already included a fever-related withdrawal from the Tour de France. Enric Mas remains third overall and continues Movistar's general-classification challenge.

Hayley Preen and Alex Miller won the elite women's and men's races at the Khomas100 in Namibia for the second consecutive year, also securing the African gravel titles. Preen completed the 140km course from Windhoek to Gross Barmen Resort in 4:59:31, finishing 13:07 ahead of Vera Looser, with Anri Greeff third. Miller won a close sprint or duel against Marco Joubert in 4:15:26, while Jordan Schleck finished third, 4:51 behind. The race was one of two UCI Gravel World Series events held the previous weekend.

Toki Sawada and Shu Wei Hsu won the first UCI Gravel World Series race held in Japan, the 106-kilometre HYSK Gravel Classic Yakurai in Miyagi Prefecture. Sawada won the elite men's race in 4:12:58, finishing 3:29 ahead of Koki Shirakawa, while Hsu won the elite women's race in 5:36:57, nearly 29 minutes ahead of Sachi Kataoka. The event serves as a qualifier for the UCI Gravel World Championships, which will take place in Nannup, Western Australia, on October 10–11.
