Killer jailed after former lodger's body found in concrete pictured for first time
Christopher Wright, 73, was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court of murdering former lodger Richard Dyson, whose remains were discovered in July 2025 inside a concrete-filled barrel at a Barnsley farm. Wright allegedly used illegal firearms and building materials to carry out and conceal the killing, while his lifelong friend Karl Schwalbe was convicted of helping obstruct the investigation. Phone records, CCTV, forensic evidence, firearms analysis, bank records and covert recordings helped prosecutors establish the case. Dyson had disappeared in 2019, leaving his family without answers for six years.

Murder accused 'killed man with prosthetic leg before buying milkshake'
Prosecutors detailed CCTV footage and forensic evidence alleging that Scott Silkstone fatally beat Dwayne Tuohey with his prosthetic leg before dragging him into a lift and leaving him outside. Footage showed Silkstone before and after the attack, including walking with visible blood on him. A forensic scientist found extensive bloodstains and DNA from both men on the prosthetic leg, which was believed to have been used as a weapon. Jurors were shown images of the blood‑spattered flat and informed that Tuohey was struck at least 28 times and was unable to defend himself.
