First picture of murderer of ex-lodger and 'beloved dad' who hid body in concrete
Christopher Wright, 73, was convicted at Sheffield Crown Court of murdering his former lodger Richard Dyson, whose remains were found inside a concrete-filled barrel at a Barnsley farm in July 2025, nearly six years after his disappearance. Wright was also convicted of firearms offences and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, while his associate Karl Schwalbe, 72, was convicted of the conspiracy charge. Investigators linked Wright to the disposal site through phone records, CCTV, a farm diary, forensic DNA, weapons evidence and financial records. Prosecutors and police said Schwalbe helped Wright conceal the killing and expressed hope that the verdict would provide some clarity to Dyson's family.
