Alex Brown: Gloucester CEO says they are in talks about new investment
Gloucester chief executive Alex Brown says the club is in ongoing discussions about potential new investment, while stressing that shareholders and the board will only accept an arrangement that benefits the club’s future. Gloucester’s losses rose from £516,355 to £2.91m for the year to June 2025, but Brown attributed the figures partly to changes in central Rugby Football Union revenue and the renewal of the academy licence, and reassured supporters about the club’s financial health. The club is rebuilding after a poor 2025-26 season through a new coaching structure and an upgraded squad, including Wales captains Dewi Lake and Jac Morgan.

Dumbleton CC: Club side score 417-2 in 20 overs
A Gloucestershire club side, Dumbleton CC, scored 417‑2 in 20 overs, potentially setting a record for the highest total in T20 cricket. Ewan Gegg hit 206 not out and Dan Holland added 122 as the team cleared the boundary 47 times. Opponents Hatherley and Reddings CC were dismissed for 229, with Harry Bloomfield scoring 109. Dumbleton are seeking confirmation on whether their total is an official T20 record, noting comparisons with high-scoring matches in India and international cricket. Factors such as pitch conditions and the pink ball were cited as contributing to the unusually high scoring.

Forest Green Rovers: Axing of team suggests women’s football ‘not valued’, says former captain
Forest Green Rovers’ closure of their women’s team to redirect resources toward the men’s side prompts criticism from former captain Hattie Jones, who says the decision signals a lack of value placed on women’s football. The team, which narrowly missed promotion last season, will not return next year, and the move also ends its partnership with Hartpury University’s girls’ training centre. Jones describes widespread disappointment among players while noting support from local clubs offering opportunities to continue playing.
