Young Ipswich Town Fans Score Big at Creative Workshop
Children aged 8–12 visited Ipswich Town’s Portman Road stadium for the free “Singing the Blues” workshop, part of the Born & Read in Suffolk literacy campaign. Led by author Francesca Armour-Chélu, the session combined football and creative writing as participants invented clubs, designed kits, created mascots and wrote chants. The event concluded with a group chant, stadium activities, a mascot appearance and goody bags. Sponsors and partners said the initiative builds confidence, imagination and community connection while encouraging children’s reading.
