Pathologist gives evidence in Silloth murder trial
A forensic pathologist testified that Stan Smith, a 73-year-old man found dead in his Silloth home, showed internal neck injuries consistent with forceful compression. His son, Brian James Stanley Smith, who denies murder, had reported restraining his father after an argument. The examination found bruising and fractures in the neck, as well as additional bruising on the back, which prosecutors argue supports an attack from behind. The pathologist concluded that heart disease was not a credible cause of death. The trial continues.
