Dentists warn Brits doing 'common habit' could lead to long-term health issues
Dentist Tony Taunk warns that frequent jaw clenching, or bruxism, can wear down tooth enamel and cause jaw pain, earaches, headaches, tooth sensitivity and disrupted sleep. The habit is often associated with stress or anxiety and may be exacerbated by caffeine, alcohol or smoking. Recommended measures include addressing underlying stress, reducing stimulants and alcohol, exercising, avoiding hard foods, maintaining a calming sleep routine and consulting a dentist about a custom mouth guard or treatment for jaw misalignment.
