In Pictures: Fourth Port Parade and Festival of Light

Marymass Gets Underway as Captain of Carters Makes History
Irvine’s Marymass Festival has officially opened with a ceremony at the Townhouse. Luce Cardle, 14, was confirmed as Queen-Elect and will be crowned on August 22, alongside Marys Taylor Hyndman, Macie Bell, Skye McLardy and Mollie Bell. Andy Tremble made history by becoming the first former captain to be reappointed to the Irvine Carters’ Society, returning to the role after 23 years. North Ayrshire Provost Anthea Dickson congratulated the participants and expressed confidence in the festival’s success. The Bagpipe Brothers—Luca and Noah Dickson and Lleyton Hyndman—also performed after gaining attention during a recent visit to Boston with Scotland supporters.

Stirling road repairs completed after Storm Eowyn leaves rocks at city spot
Road and pathway repairs on Greenwood Avenue and the Back Walk Low Path in Stirling have been completed following rockfall, fallen trees and vegetation damage caused by Storm Eowyn. Stirling Council engineers, SG Access and Fairhurst removed debris and loose rocks, after which the council resurfaced the affected road. The routes between Clarendon Road and Victoria Road have reopened to vehicles and pedestrians, while the Back Walk beneath Stirling Castle remains closed as further slope safety assessments and works continue.

New Irvine harbour playpark set for summer opening as work continues
