‘Over the moon’ - Pub landlord reacts after beer garden project given green light
Redcar and Cleveland Council has approved planning permission for Queen’s Head landlord John Convey to convert a small parcel of public land beside the Eston pub into a beer garden. The scheme includes seating, parasols, low picket fencing and wildlife-friendly planting, with the council retaining ownership through a licence. Although residents raised six objections over noise, litter and customer behaviour, ten letters supported the proposal. CCTV, signage, restricted operating hours and a required noise management plan will provide safeguards, while the council said the modest development would help sustain the local pub and business.

Plans for New Flats and Penthouses With Sea Views Given Outline Planning Permission
Outline planning permission has been granted for a development at Craigton House in Redcar featuring a two-storey extension, 30 new flats, sea-view penthouses and 16 underground parking spaces. London-based applicant Vista Estates owns the site, while architect Rob Henderson said the design aims to contribute to Redcar’s regeneration. Redcar and Cleveland Council accepted the town-centre location and design despite concerns from four objectors about parking and effects on residents, subject to conditions covering materials, access, cycle and bin storage, parking layout and construction works.
