Commonwealth Games history-maker Chad le Clos has home destroyed in fatal fire
A fire destroyed Chad le Clos’s Cape Town apartment on July 30 and killed a neighbour, overshadowing the South African swimmer’s achievement of becoming the most decorated athlete in Commonwealth Games history with 21 medals. Le Clos said the home where he had lived for more than a decade was completely destroyed and offered condolences to the deceased neighbour’s family. His foundation launched a fundraising campaign for other residents affected by the blaze. The article also recounts his major swimming achievements, including Olympic and world championship medals, and notes possible future appearances at the 2027 World Championships and 2028 Olympics.
