“I was not believed”: Leigh woman shares endometriosis fight
A woman from Leigh recounts years of severe untreated endometriosis, repeatedly dismissed by medical professionals until a colonoscopy and MRI confirmed stage four disease requiring major surgery. Her experience of chronic pain, organ damage, and delayed diagnosis prompted her to create a support group for women with similar conditions. She is now working with local supporters, including MP Jo Platt, to raise awareness, improve women’s health education, and push for better recognition and treatment of endometriosis.
