‘Predator’ caught ‘red-handed’ trying to rape woman near Buckingham Palace let go by police
A man identified as Ramzi Barkat was convicted of attempted rape after attacking a woman near Buckingham Palace, an assault interrupted by three soldiers who heard her screams. A judge sentenced him to over seven years in prison while criticising police for releasing him for a year despite strong evidence. Barkat was also found guilty of assaulting one of the soldiers and received long-term prevention and restraining orders.
