How Jarrow’s £20m regeneration plan aims to transform opportunities for young people
Jarrow Forward chair Susan Wear outlines how a £20 million government-backed regeneration fund will be used over the next decade to improve opportunities for children and young people. Based on feedback from 500 young people and more than 1,000 residents, the Jarrow Plan proposes an adventure playground, creative and technical activity hub, and youth hub supporting young adults into work. Additional measures include community grants, financial help for work experience and training, and street ambassadors to promote activity across the town. The plan’s success will depend on collaboration among community groups, businesses and young people.
