Contrary to the popular belief that Tibetan language is spoken and used by Buddhist people mostly, Kargil region of Ladakh composed mostly of Balti, Muslim community learns the script every year through the guidance of some Buddhist monks since some years for the first time in history. History shows that the people of this region spoke Tibetic language long before Urdu and Arabic flourished there. This report asks the people from that community, their desire to learn the script which they say is the root of their dialect that they speak neglected which would poses threat to their identity. They reiterate that a language should not be stereotyped on a particular religion.

Nyarma Institute believed to be founded more than a thousand years back by Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo was neglected or forgotten for a long part of history in Ladakh. This report focused on research by the younger generations about it histories and stories by the older generations who recalled memories during their childhood regarding the same.

Nomads from different Jangthang of Ladakh share their opinion and experience on the current situation of nomadic lifestyle with how their kind dwindles with time due to challenges from different side while some continues to see a bright future with the same lifestyle.
