Greece holiday hotspot filled with Brits on fire with evacuations ordered
Two wildfires on the Greek island of Salamina spread toward the tourist village of Kaki Vigla amid powerful winds. Around 260 firefighters and 10 aerial assets are fighting the blazes, while 502 people have been rescued from coastal areas by sea and ferry evacuations have been requested. At least nine people were treated for burns, with three suffering serious injuries, and two unidentified bodies were reportedly found. One fire may have started at a garbage-filled site, while the causes of both fires are being investigated. A separate wildfire on Skyros has continued for a second day.

Horror as 55-year-old dies after dog bite as police make 'murder' arrest
A 55-year-old man died in hospital after allegedly being bitten by a German Shepherd during an altercation on a footpath in Calder Grove, Wakefield, on August 15. Police arrested another 55-year-old man on suspicion of murder and of being the owner of a dangerously out-of-control dog causing injury. The dog was seized, and West Yorkshire Police are appealing for two witnesses who assisted the victim, along with anyone who saw or heard the altercation, to come forward.

4.1 Earthquake Hits Spain as Tremors Felt in Alicante and Benidorm
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck near Librilla in Spain’s Murcia region at 11:59 a.m., with tremors felt across Murcia, Alicante, Benidorm and Albacete. More than 80 calls were made to regional emergency services, but no injuries or property damage were reported. The quake was the strongest in the area in six months amid increased seismic activity, while southern Spain’s location along the Eurasian–African tectonic plate boundary creates a heightened earthquake risk.
