A 55-year-old man died after being bitten by a dog on a footpath in Calder Grove, Wakefield, on August 15. West Yorkshire Police arrested another 55-year-old man on suspicion of murder and of being the owner of a dangerously out-of-control dog that caused injury in a public place. The suspected dog was seized, and detectives appealed for two women who assisted the victim—one identified as Sophie—as well as other witnesses to come forward.

Actor Lucy Davis has revealed that she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer more than a year ago and that the disease has metastasized to her spine, right hip and ribs, making chemotherapy no longer an option. She said she is at peace with her prognosis and is trying to live whatever time remains with humour and enjoyment.
