Suella Braverman slams England flag removal in Portsmouth
A dispute arose in Portsmouth after council staff removed an England flag from a communal balcony due to fire safety rules, prompting criticism from political figures including Suella Braverman and Nigel Farage. The council maintained the decision was based solely on safety policy, supported by Hampshire Fire & Rescue, and unrelated to patriotism or football. Local officials condemned threats made against staff, while noting that residents may display flags inside their homes. The incident follows previous controversy over enforcement of similar safety rules.
