Portsmouth City Council unanimously approved planning permission for the seasonal ice rink in Guildhall Square for up to eight more years after last year’s installation operated without valid consent. Officials clarified that the approval allows, but does not require, annual installation from after Remembrance Day until mid‑January. A committee report noted that the rink supports the city centre during the festive period and offers a unique skating facility for Portsmouth.

A proposal has been submitted to redevelop the former Mr Pickwick’s pub site in Portsmouth into a Hindu temple and community centre. Led by the Portsmouth Indian Community and Agni Properties Limited, the project aims to create an inclusive space for worship, cultural events and community activities. A leaflet distributed by Agenda 21 Architects outlines plans for a vibrant multi‑use facility supporting religious studies, music, dance and social gatherings. Public consultation on the proposal is open until 6 July.
