Met Office explains rare weather phenomenon turning UK skies 'opaque'
Wildfire smoke drifting from Canada caused skies across southern parts of the UK to appear grey and opaque, according to the Met Office. The smoke, carried over the Atlantic, created hazy conditions following recent hot weather. Forecasts indicate slightly cooler temperatures, with warm and sunny conditions in the south and cloudier, cooler conditions in the north. BBC forecasters expect overcast starts, sunny spells, and rain for northern Scotland later in the week. Weather models suggest a potential August heatwave, with temperatures possibly reaching 37C in southern England and the Midlands.
