Horror as bodies of three family members pulled from sea while young girl fights for life
Three members of the same family—a man, a woman and a teenage girl—died after getting into difficulty while swimming near Shoreham Fort in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex. A younger girl was rescued and taken to hospital in critical condition. Police said all four had entered the water from land, while witnesses suggested a fishing net may have been involved; local residents also cited a steep drop in the harbour seabed. Coastguard teams, the RNLI, police and ambulance crews responded to the incident.

Met Office explains the reason UK skies turned opaque and grey
Wildfire smoke drifting from Canada has caused UK skies to appear grey and opaque, according to the Met Office. The haze follows intense Canadian wildfires that have sent smoke across North America and the Atlantic. Forecasts indicate cooler temperatures across the UK, with southern regions reaching around 28C and northern areas experiencing cloudier conditions. BBC predictions highlight overcast weather in the north and sunny spells in the south, with potential rain in northern Scotland later in the week. Meteorologists note the possibility of another heatwave in August, with temperatures potentially rising to 37C in parts of England.
