9 in 10 parents guilty of road rage on the school run - and kids are at risk
A survey of 1,000 parents who drive their children to school found that nine in ten have experienced road rage during the school run. Traffic congestion, inconsiderate parking, speeding and impatient driving were major concerns, while 30% said their children had narrowly avoided being hit by a vehicle and 5% reported a crash. Many parents said the experience is stressful, that rushing negatively affects their driving, and that they have sped, sounded their horn, parked illegally or used a phone while stationary. IAM RoadSmart urged parents to slow down, remain patient and allow extra time, while respondents called for designated drop-off zones, stronger enforcement of illegal parking, lower speed limits, crossing patrols and traffic-calming measures.
