US cites 'unauthorized travel' to end DACA status for a mother of 3 deported to Mexico
Jessica Treviño, a Texas mother with DACA protection, was deported to Mexico after being arrested with her husband and was later notified that her DACA status would be terminated for unauthorized travel—the same date as her forced removal. Her attorney argues that the deportation was unlawful and is asking a federal judge to order her return, preserve her DACA status and restore her work permit. DHS maintains that Treviño accepted voluntary departure and waived her appeal, while Treviño says she signed no such documents. The case comes amid reports of numerous DACA recipients being arrested or deported and advocates’ accusations of a broader effort to dismantle the program.

Texas nun released from ICE custody after being detained on way to Mass
A Texas nun, Sister Leticia Ugboaja, was released from immigration custody after being detained by ICE while walking to Mass near the U.S.–Mexico border. Her detention prompted rapid intervention from South Texas congressional representatives, who argued that enforcement should target violent offenders rather than lawful residents. Ugboaja, a nurse and church volunteer, returned home after officials contacted the Department of Homeland Security. Local leaders criticized unnecessary detentions linked to immigration crackdowns that have caused fear among immigrant communities.
