Viola Andreolli

I am a freelance writer and reporter with a background in Political Science and International Relations (University of Bologna), focusing on international politics, human rights, and narrative, field-based reporting.

I have lived and worked abroad extensively, including six months in Berlin collaborating with Berlino Magazine, as well as periods in Spain, Greece and France, experiences that deepened my understanding of social and political dynamics across Europe.

During my academic years in Bologna, I published interviews and long-form pieces in Italian outlets such as Pandora Rivista and Ultima Voce, with a focus on global affairs and human rights.

In 2024, I won the “Diary of the Month” award by Turisti per Caso for a narrative report based on a two-month solo journey through India, combining field observation, reportage, and personal storytelling.

My reporting is shaped by independent, on-the-ground experiences across Europe and South Asia, including long-term stays and volunteer work, informing a writing style attentive to local voices, power relations, and cultural context.

I am currently seeking collaborations with international magazines and independent newsrooms for reported features and narrative journalism, grounded in long-term observation and field reporting on politics, migration, and human rights.

I am aware that reporting from the field is never neutral, and I approach it as an ongoing process of learning, responsibility, and ethical positioning.
