Claire Aleks, a mother of four from Rhyl, took her own life in July 2022 after enduring 11 months of physical and psychological abuse by Kathryn White, whom she met on Tinder. The court heard that White isolated Aleks from her family and friends, monitored her communications, controlled her movements and subjected her to threats and violence. Aleks reported the abuse shortly before her death, and the judge concluded that White’s conduct had significantly contributed to her suicide. White was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour and sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to three years and six months in prison.
