YIOTA DIMITRIOU Professional Journalist | Editor | Social Advocate Yiota Dimitriou is a passionate journalist with extensive experience in print and digital media. She holds a degree in Journalism from Middlesex University London and began her career with an internship at Cambridge’s local newspaper, Cambridge Evening News. Splitting her time between London and Larnaca, she aspires to establish a long-term career in London, contributing impactful journalism that fosters positive change in society. Media Work Experience After completing her studies in London, Yiota worked as a journalist at Dias Publishing House, contributing to OK Magazine and To Periodiko. She also maintained her own column in the Sunday edition of Simerini newspaper. Her career took a significant step forward when she was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Espresso Newspaper in Cyprus. Alongside this role, she made weekly television appearances, providing insights and commentary on current affairs and magazine features. In 2011, inspired by her deep connection to London, she took on a position as Assistant Editor-in-Chief at the London-based Greek newspaper Parikiaki, working under a one-year contract. Following this, in February 2012, she founded Skala Times, a Larnaca-based online magazine where she serves as Editor-in-Chief. Teaching & Mentorship Yiota has a strong background in education and mentorship, having taught creative writing at the Larnaca Cultural Foundation (2015-2020), an institution under the auspices of the Cyprus Ministry of Education. Additionally, from 2018 to 2020, she lectured in Journalism at Alexander College in Larnaca, helping to shape the next generation of media professionals. Social Engagement Yiota is deeply invested in social and environmental activism. Literary Contributions Yiota is also a published poet. Her debut poetry collection was presented in Larnaca by actress Elena Hadjiafxenti in 2015
