13th Zind-Kala-Wasté Costa Rica

The 13th Zind-Kala-Wasté documentary is currently in production in northern Costa Rica, focusing on the plight of Nicaraguan refugees fleeing the dictatorship of President Ortega. Journalist Mario Negrini and filmmaker Joël Maître collaborate to interview refugees and capture their stories. The documentary aims to shed light on the political refugees' struggles and the harsh realities they face, such as selling goods in extreme conditions to survive. The team also works with Acnur (UNHCR) near the Nicaraguan border, highlighting the contrasting economic systems of the CA-4 and Costa Rica. The documentary will continue to film refugees in other countries, emphasizing the dire situation in Nicaragua, where freedom of the press is nearly non-existent, and the government is systematically eliminating fundamental rights.
