DIMITRIJE VOJNOV is a screenwriter and a film connoisseur based in Belgrade. With a background of a film critic and scholar his screenwriting career began in 2006 and in the last two decades delivered eleven feature length films and two major Serbian TV shows, with over 1,5 million admissions in cinemas across former Yugoslavia and Europe. As a script doctor, Vojnov had hit international debut with the John Cusack-starrer War Inc. His first participation in a globally released film was one of the stories in the fames ABCs of Death omnibus in 2012. The English-language feature length debut came with Lazar Bodroža’s AI Rising which gained critical acclaim, both mainstream and genre festival exposure and eventual US home video release by Lionsgate and reputable distribution worldwide. The TV show he created A Civil Servant was also sold all over the world including Disney Hotstar in India, Globo in Brazil, FlixLatino in Puerto Rico and Voyo streaming eco-system in Eastern Europe all the while being available for streaming on American Amazon. Vojnov’s work is based on his attempt to impose a genuine auteur vision within the framework of genre cinema and turn art into excitement and excitement into art. As a film critic, Vojnov worked in high circulation dailies, political magazines and a licensed Serbian edition of Playboy. Op-eds on general subjects not always related to cinema were published by high-circulation legacy newspaper Politika and oftentimes by independent Serbian daily Danas. For a while, between 2019 and 2023 Vojnov released op-eds on various subjects on the web portal of Serbian National Broadcasting Company.
