Minwook KIM is an environmental journalist with the Climate and Environment Team at South Korea’s public broadcaster MBC. HE began his career as a broadcast journalist at MBC in 2008, covering politics, social affairs, and investigative reporting. Since 2020, he has focused on climate and environmental journalism. He has produced hundreds of news videos on environmental and climate issues and directed three mid-form documentaries — Water is Coming (2024), Zero Period: Climate Crisis (2025) and Case Number 2026 Earth (2026). His work has earned numerous honors, including the 2022 Korea Broadcasting Journalist of the Year Award from the Korea Broadcasters Association, the 2023 ABU Special Prize for News from the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, selection as a finalist for the 2023 PRIX Italia IFAD-COPEAM Special Prize, and the 2024 Climate Journalist of the Year Award from the Korean Society of Climate Change Research. In 2025, he was recognized as a TV Finalist at the Save the Children 2nd Global Media Awards and won the Best Social Awareness Programme category at the 30th Asian Television Awards. He holds a master’s degree from Korea University, where he studied protected area policy.
